I love music. Truly. Not all kinds, but I really need to have music around me at ALL times. Even during quiet seatwork I have music playing in the background for the kids and me. I firmly believe that music helps the kids to focus on their work instead of the things going on around them. At least that’s my hope. For some it works, for others it doesn’t. I digress.
There are a couple of CDs that I am really enjoying right now. (Do you ever notice how some people really overuse some words, like really!) I’ve talked about my love for Josh Groban’s voice. I just know that my CD is going to just disintegrate or something one of these days. Seriously, I listen to him all the time – at school, in my car, at home. I carry his CD around with me so that I am never somewhere that I can’t listen it to it. Well, he’s finally come out with a new one!!! I’m so excited. I’ve been listening to the songs at school via his website. My connection at home is so slow that I can’t play them, but at school they are going. Any Josh Groban fan would indeed enjoy his new CD. I’ll even buy it when I can get some extra cash. It’s not a priority to own the CD – yet.
Another CD that I am listening to when I’m not listening to good ol’ Josh is Clay Aiken’s first CD. It’s not surprising that if I like the strong vocals of Josh Groban that I would enjoy the incredibly strong vocals of American Idol’s runner-up, Clay Aiken. (They have completely different sounds, though. Don’t get me wrong.) A few of the songs captured my interest the first time that I heard them. However, I wasn’t really impressed with the whole of the CD. I like Clay’s sound, but the songs themselves aren’t that impressive. [Addendum: After listening to the CD all the way to Wisconsin and back to Atlanta because I forgot my other CDs, most of the other songs, if not all of them, have truly grown on me!]
Music just makes me so happy! When I’m feeling blue, or when I’m feeling especially giddy, music puts a smile on my face, even if it puts a tear in my eyes first. I like to crank the tunes in the car as I ride along the highway, enjoying the sweet sounds. Gotta have it!
I even use the music in the classroom while the kids are working on seatwork. The like it, too. It calms them down a bit, I think. (And I need all the help I can get in that area! Heh.)
I just thought that after what seems to be a quatrillion entries of “whoa is me”, I’d put up a happy one. After all, I really am a happy girl!
